Sean Nolin got the start for for Birmingham, his AA debut, and proceeded to watch two batters score in his first inning. One was on him (a solo home run allowed) the other was because of an error by Laz Rivera. By the third inning, the Shuckers added another run, putting the Barons in a 3-0 hole. After four scoreless innings, Birmingham finally broke through in the fifth , and in a big way. The bases were loaded with two outs by the time Micker Adolfo came to the plate. Adolfo delivered the big hit Birmingham needed, with a bases-clearing double. The tie at three stayed until the ninth inning as Luis Martinez came in for Nolin. He had some trouble in his two innings, as four batters reached base, but Martinez escaped without allowing a run. In the ninth Luis Gonzalez singled, and it scored two runners for a 5-3 lead.Mauricio Cabrera pitching in the eighth, so after the Barons took the lead and he closed down Biloxi to earn the win in the 5-3 victory.Wilmington Blue Rocks 5, Winston-Salem Dash 3Kyle Kubat: 5 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 KLuis Robert: 2-for-4, 1 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, 0 BB,0 K **MVP**Nick Madrigal: 2-for-3, 1 RBI, 0 BB, 0 KYeyson Yrizarri: 1-for-4 Nolan Ryan Jersey , 0 BB, 0 KThe only North Carolina MiLB team to play today was Winston-Salem, and Luis Robert led off the game with a double. After Robert advanced to third base, Nick Madrigal was able to drive him in with a sac fly. Kyle Kubat got the start and he cruised through his first two innings with a 1-0 lead, until Robert was up again. Apparently, Robert was not satisfied with only a double, because he jacked his fourth homer of the year to make the game 2-0. However, Kubat’s shutout would end in the fourth, after a run-scoring double by the Blue Rocks. The Dash would expand the lead to 3-1 thanks to a Robert fielder’s choice, but that lead was the high point. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Kubat lost all luck. He allowed two more runs without inducing an out in the sixth inning. Wyatt Burns replaced Kubat, and he allowed an unearned run across that gave the Blue Rocks the 4-3 lead. The Blue Rocks would go on to win the game after adding one more run.Kannapolis Intimidators KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Sean Reid-Foley acknowledged he was a bundle of nerves from his first pitch to his last in his big league debut.Ryan O’Hearn homered and drove in a career-high three runs, Brad Keller threw seven strong innings and the Kansas City Royals beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 on Monday night to spoil Reid-Foley’s first game.Reid-Foley (0-1) was removed after 97 pitches and five innings, allowing three runs, six hits and three walks while striking out three. That’s why a lot of my misses were way out of the zone. I was still nervous in the fifth. Every pitch, still nervous.”O’Hearn , a rookie who entered hitting .130 with three RBIs, hit an opposite-field homer on Reid-Foley’s first pitch with Brett Phillips aboard with two outs in the second.“(Opposite-field power) is something that has kind of got me here,” O’Hearn said. “It’s definitely something that has been one of my strengths.”O’Hearn walked with the bases loaded in the fourth to bring home Lucas Duda, who led off the inning with a single.Keller (5-5) yielded one run and four hits to pick up his third victory in his past four decisions.Wily Peralta worked around Justin Smoak’s walk leading off the ninth for his seventh save.Devon Travis homered in the first for Toronto. It was his fourth home run in 26 at-bats at Kauffman Stadium.“The pitch before, he shattered his bat,” Keller said. “So I tried to go back in there and he barreled with me around the pole. It has occurred five times in the past 25 years in the National League.“Both those guys ought to feel real good, even if it was a bad result,” Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said.ROYALS DEFENSE SHINESThe Royals played their 13th straight errorless game, extending their club record. They have not committed an error in 120 innings.“One thing we’ve consistently done this year is play defense,” Yost said. “The same tune we were playing in the championship years. I’m pleased with the way we’ve played defensively. It’s a real struggle when you’re not winning games and playing sloppy defense. At least defensively, we’re giving ourselves a chance.”Their last error was July 29 in the first inning at Yankee Stadium.TRAINER’S ROOMBlue Jays: 3B Josh Donaldson (left calf tightness) will begin running the bases this week.
