Pache continues his strong offensive start to t Antworten

he season with a 1-for-4 performance. He now has a .998 OPS on the season."(9-5) Charlotte Knights 5 Starlin Castro Jersey , (7-6) Gwinnett Stripers 4Box ScoreAustin Riley, 3B: 1-for-4, RBI, .569 OPSAdam Duvall, DH: 2-for-4, 2B, R, .793 OPSTravis Demeritte, RF: 0-for-3, RBI, .840 OPSKyle Wright, SP: 4.0 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 2 HRIt was not quite the welcome back to Gwinnett that Kyle Wright was hoping for as the recently optioned pitcher lasted just four innings while surrendering five runs and striking out just two. Wright gave up all five runs in a very rough first inning that culminated in back-to-back homers by the Knights. After that first inning, Kyle found his groove and just allowed a pair of singles the following three innings. The trio of Andres Santiago, Elian Leyva, and Corbin Clouse combined to blank the Knights the following five innings while striking out six, and walking two. Unfortunately for them, the offense could not mount a big enough comeback before ultimately falling to the Knights 5-4.Travis Demeritte drove in the first run of the game for Gwinnett with a sacrifice fly in the second inning that scored Adam Duvall while a single by Ryan LaMarre drove in Alex Jackson to close the gap to 5-2. Gwinnett went on to score two more runs in the five inning - highlighted by an Austin Riley single that drove in Rafael Ortega to close the gap to 5-4 but that was all that Gwinnett could muster. (6-5) Mississippi Braves 3, (4-7) Chattanooga Lookouts 2Box ScoreDrew Waters, CF: 0-for-3, R, BB, .773 OPSCristian Pache, RF: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, R, .998 OPSCJ Alexander, 1B: 0-for-3, .485 OPSIan Anderson, SP: 4.2 IP http://www.marlinsfanproshop.com/authentic-starlin-castro-jersey , 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 KIan Anderson was on the mound and struggled with his control by walking three over 4.2 innings before hitting what appears to be the pitch count cap (~75 pitches) that all starters are being held to. Even without his best command - Ian still struck out five (10.4 K/9) and gave up just one unearned run while lowering his ERA to 2.08 on the season which shows his lights out stuff - but he now has surrendered 8 walks on the season (5.5 BB/9). Philip Pfeifer came in relief and gave up an earned run over 2.1 innings of work. Jason Hursh finished out the game with two perfect innings where he struck out one while collecting his first save of the season. Mississippi trailed most of the game, actually, as they were blanked until Cristian Pache took matters into his own hands and homered to left - his first of the season. Daniel Lockhart put Mississippi up the following inning with his first homer of the season as well - a solo shot that extended the lead to 3-1. C.J. Alexander’s rough start to the season continued tonight as he went 0-for-3 and lowered his OPS on the season to a meager .485. Coming into the season as a fast riser in the organization, C.J. has run into his first real rough stretch of games during his short professional career. It was only a matter of time before he ran into one and it’s how he responds to this that really sets the tone for his path. Daniel Lockhart, son of Keith, went 1-for-4 with a homer, and increased his OPS to .833 on the season. (6-8) Florida Fire Frogs 5, (4-10) Clearwater Threshers 2Box ScoreWilliam Contreras, DH: 0-for-3, BB, R, .713 OPSGreyson Jenista, CF: 0-for-2, BB, R, RBI, .592 OPSHayden Deal, SP: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 KOn a night with the likes of Kyle Wright, and Ian Anderson on the mound - it was Hayden Deal who turned in the most impressive performance by surrendering two runs over six innings of work. The two earned runs are actually the most runs he’s surrendered in a game this season which shows how impressive of a start he’s had. While he hasn’t had the strikeout rate you would like to see from a 24 year old in A+ ball, his command has not wavered - sporting a 2.6 BB/9 rate while allowing opponents to hit just .158 off of him. Brandon S. White came into the game in the seventh and pitched two perfect innings while striking out four. That’s five scoreless outings in a row to start the season for Brandon. Sean McLaughlin worked the ninth and picked up his first save of the season. The Florida offense was not particularly dynamic as they were limited to three hits - highlighted by a three run triple by Kevin Josephina in the five run seventh inning. It’s been a pretty tough offensive start of the season for Florida, who didn’t have a single hitter with an OPS over .800 following the game but they are still just two games below .500 because of their strong pitching. (6-7) Columbia Fireflies 2, (5-8) Rome Braves 1Box ScoreJustin Dean, CF: 2-for-4, .917 OPSTrey Harris, RF-LF: 1-for-4, 1.048 OPSJose Olague Martin Prado Jersey , SP: 5.0 IP, 9 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 KRome’s offense and defense fell flat in a rough loss to the Fireflies up in Rome, Georgia tonight. Jose Olague took the rough loss while allowing just one earned run while going six innings. It wasn’t easy, as Jose allowed nine hits of which ONE was an extra-base hit, but he got the job done. Alan Randel, Dilmer Mejia, and Lukas Young four innings where they surrendered a combined one unearned run while striking out five and walking zero.Outside of Justin Dean the offense really struggled - scoring just one run because of fielding error by the Fireflies first baseman that allow Greg Cullen to score. Trey Harris went 1-for-4 and is off to a fast start - sporting a 1.048 OPS through 13 games. #SmallSampleSizes"Eight games into spring training, let’s look at the players on both sides of the game, who have made an impression (good or bad) out of the gate.Hitters (min 12 PA) Christian Walker: 6-for-12, 2 DBL, HR, 8 RBI, 1.450 OPSDomingo Leyba: 4-for-12, DBL, HR, RBI, 1.095 OPSYasmany Tomas: 5-for-11, DBL, 5 RBI, 1.045 OPS————————————————————Socrates Brito: 3-for-17, DBL, RBI, .402 OPSRob Refsnyder: 2-for-14, 2 BB, RBI, .393 OPSKelby Tomlinson: 0-for-10, 2 BB, .167 OPSInteresting that all the players at both ends of the spectrum are “fringey” ones, who might or might not make it onto the Opening Day roster, so these performances might well have a significant impact on their chances. Walker has certainly done nothing to hurt his hopes, especially in comparison to Jake Lamb (1-for-7 http://www.marlinsfanproshop.com/authentic-starlin-castro-jersey , .476 OPS). [In case you’re wondering: Paul Goldschmidt with the Cardinals is 2-for-9 with a double and three walks, for a .929 OPS] Leyba and Tomas are also making their cases for bench spots. At the other end, predictions that Tomlinson would make the Opening Day roster seem to be on rocky ground, going by his performance so far, while Brito and Refsnyder both need to step up their games.Pitching (min 2 IP)Nick Green: 5 IP, 2 H, 0.00 ERA, K:BB 3:2Taylor Widener: 4 IP, 2 H, 0.00 ERA, K:BB 3:2Mark Rzepczynski: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0.00 ERA. K:BB 3:0————————————————————Troy Scribner: 2 IP, 4 H, 22.50 ERA, K:BB 3:2Joel Payamps: 3.1 IP, 6 H, 10.80 ERA, K:BB 2:1Jimmie Sherfy: 3 IP, 5 H, 9.00 ERA, K:BB 1:2The minimum innings required saves a lot of known D-backs from appearing on this list, including Zack Godley (0.1 IP, 81 ERA), Greg Holland (0.2 IP, 40.50 ERA) and T.J. McFarland (0.2 IP, 27 ERA). We’ll see this afternoon whether Godley’s second outing goes better than his first. Rule 5 pick Green is doing his best to be “Nick who sticks,” while Widener and [copy...paste] Rzepczynski have enhanced their chances with good starts. Scribner does not appear to be any better than last season; Payamps is very much a work in prospect, so I’m not too bothered by his showing. However, Sherfy was expected by many to claim a bullpen spot: more walks than strikeouts isn’t how you’d normally go about that....This game is on Arizona Sports Radio 98.7 FM, or if you’re eligible and have MLB.tv, you can watch the Seattle feed.
