xpected to make his NFL debut for the Ch Antworten

ST. LOUIS -- There will be no red October this year in St. Louis after the Cardinals missed the postseason for the first time since 2010.St. Louis finished 86-76, missing a wild-card berth by one game as the rival Chicago Cubs won the NL Central Division by 17 1/2 games over the second-place Cardinals. We didnt meet our goals. Theres no other way to say other than its disappointing, general manager John Mozeliak said after Sundays season-ending win over Pittsburgh. Theres a lot of things we could talk about -- defense, base running or record at home. These this will have to be addressed at some level this offseason.Still, the GM said he believes the Cardinals are in a good spot and said he was very confident about the talent in the farm system.Hopefully, can we can address the right pieces, whether its in either trade or free agency to improve on where we are today, he said. We finished strong but not strong enough. There are questions at pitcher and the outfield, too, with Matt Holliday not expected back. Adam Wainwright, the starter in the season finale, was simply trying to come to grips with not playing any more this year.Missing the playoffs by one game, thats hard to swallow, Wainwright said. Theres a lot of different ways we could have won different games. I could have pitched better in a lot of them. You cant do it now. Its more painful to know we just missed out. We never played our best baseball.By not playing in the postseason, Mozeliak quipped, the organization has more time to decide what direction to go.Weve got to figure out a way to take a step forward, Mozeliak said. Theres room for growth. Theres going to be some activity. You look at our club, theres faces at each position. How do we get that better? Some things to watch for with the Cardinals this offseason:ON THE MOUNDLeft-hander Jamie Garcia enters the option year of his contract. He will be due $12 million or the club can pay him $1 million and cut ties. Garcia finished 10-13 with a 4.67 ERA. Lance Lynn will return from Tommy John surgery. Michael Wacha, in his fourth season, struggled and finished 7-7 with a 5.09 ERA. Wainwright will turn 36 during the next season. Carlos Martinez is the No. 1 starter and rookie Alex Reyes looks like a solid starter. Free-agent signee Mike Leake went 9-12 with a 4.69 ERA.SPELLING RELIEFWho will the Cardinals go with as their closer in 2017? Seung Hwan Oh, signed as an extra arm for the bullpen, collected 19 saves after he took over the job. Trevor Rosenthal struggled early and spent nearly two months on the disabled list with a shoulder injury. Rosenthal has wanted to be a starter and in his final outing of the year on Saturday covered three innings for the first time since 2012, throwing a career-most 52 pitches.MOSSThe contract situation for Brandon Moss will be worth watching. He finished with 28 homers and 67 RBI but hit just .225. He had been mired in a 7-for-97 stretch that included 34 strikeouts before he hit a home run in Fridays game against Pittsburgh. He earned $8.25 million this season. Moss will be 33 next season.OUTFIELD SHIFT IS ONThe Cardinals are expected to decline the $17 million club option on left fielder Matt Holliday. In his third season, Randal Grichuk won the job in center field and hit .240 with 24 homers, but he was demoted twice during the season to AAA Memphis. With Stephen Piscotty in right field, two spots may be open. Do the Cardinals want to try Tommy Pham or Jeremy Hazelbaker there? Second baseman Kolten Wong also played some center this season.UP THE MIDDLEThe Cardinals pride themselves on good defense. That wasnt really the case this season. Rookie shortstop Aledmys Diaz had 16 errors. Second baseman Matt Carpenter made 13 errors and Jeff Gyorko committed 10. First baseman Matt Adams has seven errors. Jhonny Peralta, who switched third when he came back from injury after Diaz won the shortstop position, had four. Gyorko, who hit 30 homers, also can play in the outfield. Second baseman Wong, who had eight errors, signed a five-year $25.5 million contract before the season. Diaz is a lock to stay at shortstop but there may be some musical chairs in the other positions. Nike Air Max Fury . - Blake Griffin had 30 points and 12 rebounds, J. Balenciaga Triple S Shop Online . After Gasquet beat fifth-seeded Ivan Dodig of Croatia 7-5, 6-3, Tsonga followed up with a 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-2 win against sixth-seeded Edouard Roger-Vasselin in an all-French match. http://www.balenciagascarpe.it/nike-shox-gravity.html . "I was fortunate to play many years at this level with a great organization and unbelievable teammates," said Hejduk in a statement. Air Max 97 Desert Dust . Ancelotti says Ronaldo has recovered from a hamstring injury but "but he doesnt feel comfortable yet so we wont risk him." Madrid is third in the Spanish league, six points behind leader Barcelona, going into Saturdays game against Valladolid. Balenciaga Speed Trainer .ca! Kerry, Two nights after the Scott-Eriksson incident in Buffalo, the Bruins returned home to play San Jose. In that game, Zdeno Chara put a check on Tommy Wingels that clearly targeted his head. The Oakland Raiders are displaying that they plan to be a factor in the AFC West. The San Diego Chargers cant say the same because of a penchant for blowing fourth-quarter leads.San Diego (1-3) has blown three leads in the games final five minutes and aims to halt a nine-game division losing streak when it visits the Raiders on Sunday (4:25 p.m., CBS).While the Chargers couldnt figure out how to protect another lead, Oakland (3-1) rallied for a road victory in Baltimore last Sunday, revealing the clutch gene that San Diego seems to lack.Raiders quarterback Derek Carr tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to receiver Michael Crabtree with 2:12 remaining to provide Oakland with a 28-27 victory. Coach Jack Del Rio sees the comeback as another sign of the progression of Carr, who threw four touchdown passes in the win.He is a guy that is very well-prepared, Del Rio said. Hes really, I think, taken a step forward in terms of emotional control, the poise to be, kind of, surgeon-like and just be accurate with the ball and let his playmakers do their thing. So, its a combination of things but I think hes definitely taken a step forward for us.Meanwhile, San Diego is heading backwards as it cant close out games under beleaguered coach Mike McCoy.The Chargers blew a 13-point lead while losing to New Orleans 35-34 last Sunday. Running back Melvin Gordon and receiver Travis Benjamin each lost fourth-quarter fumbles to set the stage for the teams latest collapse.San Diego also let fourth-quarter leads get away in losses to Kansas City and Indianapolis.Theres 53 minutes of some good football and then unfortunately we turned the ball over twice there to give them a great opportunity to do what they did, McCoy said of the Saints game. Youre furious when you watch because you see all the positives, but then theres the blowups. We can put it on two plays, but thats not the only reason. Theres a number of times during the games. Like I told the players, thats every week. Theres so many things we can do better. The setbacks have increased speculation that McCoys job is in jeopardy, but the fourth-year coach said he isnt worried about being dismissed.San Diegos injury-riddled rostter took another hit Wednesday, when Pro Bowl cornerback Jason Verrett said he would miss the rest of the season with a partially torn ACL in his left knee.ddddddddddddThe feeling I had in my knee, I knew something wasnt right but I have the mindset of being out there, Verrett said. Then getting the results, it was crushing. It was tough, but I knew something wasnt right. The loss of Verrett and the probable absence of veteran cornerback Brandon Flowers (concussion) will make it harder for the Chargers to halt the Oakland passing game.Carr has passed for 1,066 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception. Crabtree, who has 26 catches for 308 yards, had a career-best three touchdowns against the Ravens and is tied for the NFL lead with four scoring receptions. He was so committed to making sure he made so many plays for me that I would always look his way -- thats what he wants and so far, hes done that, Carr said. You have to give him credit. The guys worked his tail off and hes super competitive to get to where hes at to where if its one-on-one, hes a great matchup. The Raiders have struggled on the defensive side and are allowing a league-worst 460.0 yards per game. Standout defensive end Khalil Mack finally recorded his first sack of the season against Baltimore after posting 15 last season.San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers has passed for 1,110 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception despite losing standout receiver Keenan Allen (knee) for the season. Gordon leads the NFL with six rushing touchdowns after not finding the end zone as a rookie, but he is averaging a paltry 3.2 yards per carry.First-round pick Joey Bosa, the defensive end from Ohio State, is expected to make his NFL debut for the Chargers.San Diegos most-recent win over an AFC West foe came against the Raiders 13-6 on Nov. 16, 2014. The Chargers lost their final two division games that season, went 0-6 versus the AFC West last season, and lost to Kansas City in this seasons opener. The Raiders averaged 30 points while sweeping last seasons two meetings.
