BALTIMORE -- The Los Angeles Angels had just matched their longest winning streak of the season, yet the mood in the clubhouse was somber.Their 9-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night came at a cost: First baseman C.J. Cron fractured his left hand when struck by a pitch from Mike Wright in the sixth inning. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list after the game and will see a specialist on Monday.Cron had 17 RBI over his last eight games, including two in this one. Since May 30, he hit six home runs and raised his batting average from .237 to .278.Its a blow to us and to C.J., who really picked it up, manager Mike Scioscia said. But were going to have to keep going. Get some other bats in the lineup and hopefully theyll be productive.Standing in front of his locker and wearing a soft cast, Cron said softly, You never want to get hurt, especially under these circumstances. Were finally starting to get some wins. Its bad timing for sure.Daniel Nava had two RBI and Mike Trout scored three runs for the Angels, who have won four straight. Los Angeles built an 8-1 lead in the fourth inning and coasted to the finish.Matt Shoemaker (4-9) allowed three runs and five hits in five-plus innings to earn his first win since May 27. The right-hander was 0-4 in his previous eight starts despite owning a respectable 3.08 ERA over that span. The bottom line is were pitching better, Scioscia said. Shoe went through a tough lineup and gave us a chance. Thats where it has to start.Los Angeles did most of its damage against Ubaldo Jimenez (5-9), who gave up five runs, five hits and two walks in 1 1/3 innings. Many in the crowd of 44,317 began booing the right-hander in the first inning, and they cheered when manager Buck Showalter finally walked to the mound to summon help from the bullpen.Theres no doubt about it, this is the toughest thing that I have had to face, said Jimenez, whose ERA rose to 7.38. I have to keep going, keep working hard and hopefully find something thats going to get me out of this thing.Adam Jones homered on Shoemakers first pitch, and the Orioles also got long balls from Jonathan Schoop and Mark Trumbo.Jones shot got Baltimore to 2-1, and two batters later Manny Machado sent a drive toward the seats in left. Nava gauged the flight of the ball while backing up, shifted to his right at the last second and reached into the front row to rob Machado of his 20th home run.Baltimores rocky night was personified by consecutive errors committed by three-time Gold Glove shortstop J.J. Hardy in the fourth inning. The miscues doubled his error total for the season. After Jimenez departed, Wright hit three batters over the course of his 4 2/3-inning stint.Schoop was plunked in the helmet by Cam Bedrosian in the sixth, prompting home plate umpire Mike Everitt to issue a warning to both clubs.ROSTER MOVESThe Angels put Cron on the DL, optioned C Carlos Perez to Triple-A Salt Lake, activated C Geovany Soto from the DL and recalled 1B Ji-Man Choi.50 YEARS LATERThe Orioles paid tribute to the 1966 World Series champions with a pregame ceremony and by wearing replica uniforms of that team. Informed that the 66 Orioles used only four pitchers in a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Showalter exclaimed, Cmon man, we use four (by) the third inning!TRAINERS ROOMAngels: LHP Tyler Skaggs (shoulder) threw 75 pitches in a rehab assignment on Thursday night. We definitely are hoping hes going to be with us and maybe part of our rotation at some point, Scioscia said.Orioles: LHP T.J. McFarland (left knee inflammation) will see Dr. James Andrews on Monday for a second opinion.UP NEXTAngels: RHP Nick Tropeano (3-2, 3.28 ERA) makes his 12th start of the season and first of his career against the Orioles on Saturday.Orioles: RHP Yovani Gallardo (3-1, 6.10) has been in the league since 2007, yet he has only faced the Angels once. He allowed five runs in four innings last year. Joe Mullen Jersey . -- If this was Aaron Gordons final home game at Arizona, and it almost certainly was, then he went out in style. Pierre Turgeon Jersey . Rinne played two periods in his first game since left hip surgery in early May. Gabriel Bourque scored 3:07 into the second period and Austin Watson tallied 5:15 later for Nashville. http://www.bluesjerseyscheap.com/?tag=wayne-gretzky-jersey . -- Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings was selected Monday to his second straight Pro Bowl, while guard Kyle Long made it after a solid rookie season. Keith Tkachuk Jersey . John Lucas, signed as a mentor for rookie Trey Burke, showed he can score if required, scoring 12 points of his 16 points in the second quarter as Utah built an 18-point lead. Ivan Barbashev Jersey . Emery skated the length of the ice and fought an unwilling Holtby during the third period of the Flyers 7-0 loss Friday night in Philadelphia. He was given 29 penalty minutes, including a game misconduct. But Emery did not face even a disciplinary hearing with NHL senior vice president of player safety Brendan Shanahan because rules 46.TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis is making progress in his recovery from knee surgery and remains hopeful of being ready to play in the teams regular season opener in September. The centerpiece of coach Greg Schianos effort to overhaul the NFLs worst pass defence is not expected to participate in full-speed drills during a mandatory mini-camp next week. Revis, however, has been working out with a team trainer and spending time on the sidelines observing teammates during voluntary practices known as organized team activities. Revis said Tuesday hes "taking steps every day" toward getting back on the field. At the same time, he wont say how close his surgically repaired left knee is to being 100 per cent. "I cannot really put a number on it," the three-time All Pro said. "I can tell it is getting stronger. ... I am out here running and cutting. Even in the weight room we are getting stronger. There is really no percentage on it right now, but I can tell I feel better than I did a couple weeks ago." Generally regarded as the leagues top player at his position when healthy, Revis missed most of last season with the New York Jets after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The Bucs obtained the seventh-year pro from the Jets in a pre-draft trade in exchange for the 13th overall pick of the first round, then signed Revis to a six-year, $96 million contract. Schiano and General manager Mark Dominik also signed All-Pro safety Dashon Goldson in free agency and selected cornerback Johnthan Banks in the second round as part of a plan to revamp a porous secondary that nearly set a NFL record for yards passing allowed in 2012. Revis is confident he can return and be as good as ever. "There is no concern. I feel myself getting stronger. I feel myself getting in shape," the 27-year-old said. There are "certain steps through this process and weve got to knock those steps down when they approach," Revis added. "That is how you got to handle this situation. When those steps approach you, you knock them down and if it is a step back, it is a step back. If it is a step forward, then you move forward." The cornerback said hes heard "a million ACL stories from people around the league and non-football players" but that he has not talked with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who returned from a major knee injuryy to rush for nearly 2,100 yards and be voted the leagues most valuable player last season.dddddddddddd "I think that is good talking to guys around the league that have had these ACL problems or injuries. You just listen. It kind of has you proactive a little bit because when they tell you this is going to happen then you go through it, you are like: Oh yeah, I was ready for it. Your mind is already programmed to be ready for it," Revis said. While theres no definitive timetable for Revis getting back on the field, the main target is the Sept. 8 season opener against his old team. "That is the goal ... to be out there week one and play. If anything other than that we will have to see when that time comes, but we got to have a goal set. I think coach has the same goal too. To be out there week one," Revis said, reiterating he feels the rehab process is going well. During OTAs, Revis spends much of his time working on an adjacent field with trainer Todd Toriscelli. Meanwhile, hes learning the defensive scheme during walkthroughs and team meetings. "The defence is easy," Revis said. "I am a veteran and some of the things that we did in New York, coach Schiano does down here too. I am fine with that. I think the biggest thing is just making sure I am 100 per cent when I step out there with my teammates, and we can go out there and play some great football." Schiano feels Revis is progressing well, too. "Hes not a rookie. Hes played a lot of years, played in a scheme where he has to do more than just cover one on one. Thats always the fear, when you bring a corner in from the outside whos only played one on one, does he understand all the other concepts," Schiano said. "But he does. And hes got a real good football mind, so. Hes doing a good job with his rehab and all those things, and hes also doing a real good job in the classroom, and those are the two things he really can do right now." Like Revis, Schiano would not speculate about how much training camp or preseason game action the cornerback might need to be ready for the season opener. "Its not necessarily live play as much as it is cutting and breaking and running and covering and all those things. Thats the important part," the coach said. "So thats where I have to get a feel and more important than me, hes got to get a feel. Hes the one whos got to be confident of that."
